Why Is Now The Time
While there are significant rebates, tax credits and other incentives in place to encourage homeowners to go solar, incentives programs are not around forever. In fact, there have already been announcements made to have certain programs go away in the near future. The current federal renewable energy tax credit is 30 percent through 2019 – but after that point, it will be phased out for residential systems.
When you go solar, you effectively install a mini power plant on your roof and take control back from the power companies by locking in your rate. That means homeowners with high electricity rates from their utility are the ones who save the most when they switch to home solar power.
If you wait to go solar, you’re stuck paying your utility electricity bill every month. Electricity prices rise by as much as seven percent annually, and depending on where you live, could increase by another two or three percent in 2018
